Dr Alyssa Brooks
Born and raised in Melbourne, Dr Alyssa Brooks completed her undergraduate dental training at the University of Melbourne. Upon graduation, she moved to the Victorian country town of Shepparton to work in the public dental service. Her interest in the management of pre-cooperative and behaviourally challenging children continued to grow as she worked in suburban and semi-rural private practice. This inspired Alyssa to return to the University of Melbourne to complete postgraduate specialist training in paediatric dentistry.
Alyssa loves the challenge of making dental visits a positive experience for all her child patients. She is passionate about all facets of paediatric dentistry, with a particular interest in the management of anxious and special needs children. She has worked in multidisciplinary teams at the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. Alyssa keeps up to date through regularly attending professional development courses and conferences. She is an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry (ANZSPD), Australasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and Australian Dental Association (ADA).
When not at work, Alyssa loves to get out in nature, spoil her dogs and bake (followed by brushing her teeth of course!).
Samantha Dawsey
With over 20 years of experience in the dental industry, I’ve worked across both general and specialist dentistry. My passion and motivation for the field remain as strong as ever-especially now that I’m working in paediatric dentistry. I love helping children feel comfortable and confident during their visits, and supporting parents through the process too.
Working with children with additional needs is especially close to my heart, as I have a daughter with additional needs myself. It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to make a genuine difference i n our patients’ experience at the practice.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my daughter, family and friends, going to the movies, and taking long walks on the beach with our dogs.

Dr Lucy Yu
Dr Lucy Yu received her dental degree from the University of Queensland and then went on to complete her specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Sydney. Before returning to Melbourne, she worked overseas and interstate, including Children’s Oral Health Services in Queensland, Westmead Centre for Oral Health, Children’s Hospital Westmead, and Liverpool University Dental Hospital (UK). Additionally, she has been involved in teaching at the University of Queensland, University of Sydney and the University of Liverpool.
Lucy’s goal is to make each dental visit a fun experience. Earlier in her dental career, she encountered many adults with dental fear and anxiety, which stemmed from childhood. So now, she aims to work with families early on to help children build a positive relationship with the dentist. Lucy believes that education, prevention and an evidence-based approach to dental care are essential to improving oral health and help maintain sparkling smiles.
Lucy is a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA), Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry (ANZSPD), Australasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (AAPD), American Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (AAPD), International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD), and International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT).
